Franco Grimoldi Calo
About Me
Franco Grimoldi Calo is an Argentine American composer for visual media based in Los Angeles. In 2024, he compled a double major in Film and Media Scoring & Games and Interactive Media Scoring at the Berklee College of Music. He recently completed an internship for the award-winning composer Bear McCreary and his Emmy-winning team at Sparks & Shadows.
During his studies at Berklee, he received the Outstanding Achievement in Screen Scoring Award. Franco is also a recipient of the Wachter Fellowship, which greatly helped to support him in Los Angeles while interning for Bear McCreary.
His first proper introduction to music was at the age of 5 when he asked his parents for piano lessons after no longer being satisfied with banging on random notes at his grandparents’ house piano. Franco has been playing the piano since and was honored to work with esteemed music director Alex Lacamoire in a Berklee masterclass. He is also a violist, which he has played at the Lincoln Center, Jordan Hall, and under the baton of Alan Silvestri in 2022.
While he is proficient at both of these instruments, it’s his work in music composition that he enjoys the most. He has been composing for a decade and has developed a melodically driven style, writing most often for orchestral ensembles. He has worn different hats on audio teams for games during his time at Berklee, ranging from composer to audio director. In addition to games, Franco has worked and collaborated with independent filmmakers and animators as well as outstanding students from Loyola Marymount University, the School of Visual Arts, Chapman University, the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, and MassArt.
Above all else, Franco strives to provide memorable and personally crafted music for every collaboration. If you would like to reach out to him for your project, feel free to send him a message in the contact form or contact him through social media.
